Can I use Control Networks Communicator without Office?

Yes, you can, however - there are limitations in the feature set.

The following features require a compatible version of Microsoft Office to be installed...

  • Sending Word, Publisher and PowerPoint documents as messages
  • Microsoft Office Ribbon / Toolbar integrations

Communicator can still operate in a limited format without Microsoft Office installed.  Sending PDF documents, as well as utilising non-document messaging formats is still possible without Office installed.
