How to Connect Your CISCO IP Phone to a Modem

Pre-Check:

Please make sure that there is an activated ADSL, ADSL 2+ or NBN connection in your home and a modem has been connected and power-supplied. After checking, three indicate lights should be active which are Power, DSL and Internet. If not, please contact your ISP support team or your IT support.

Step 1.          Turn the phone body over to expose the ports on the back of the unit.

Step 2.          Plug the black cable which comes with the box into the Switch Port. If the length of the cable cannot meet your need, you can replace it with a longer Ethernet cable. Also, please connect the phone with supplied power pack, to do that, please refer to the article How to Installing Your IP Phone which has detailed instruction.

Step 3.          Plug another end of the cable into one of the Ethernet ports of your modem. In normal circumstances, there should be more than one Ethernet ports on one side of your modem.

Step 4.          When done, the light which indicate the port that you just plugged into should be activated.
